From Local to Global: The Rise of Prosecco Doc Conegliano
Unlike many smaller clubs struggling with limited local support, Conegliano has built a broad and passionate fanbase, attracting sponsors from across the region and gaining international recognition.

Sport, when examined beyond its tactical and technical dimensions, is fundamentally a matter of identity: national, regional, and local.
In Italy, a country shaped by centuries of municipal rivalries and what was once called "the most beautiful league in the world" (football Serie A), there is a common belief that without football, you don’t really exist.
Whenever a club faces financial crisis, this idea resurfaces, as if not having a team in Serie A or Serie B were a form of social relegation for an entire community.
Treviso, however, defies this notion, proving that this long-standing belief is little more than an empty rhetorical assumption.
Unlike many Italian cities, Treviso has historically found its sporting success outside of football, winning titles in basketball, rugby, and men’s volleyball. In recent years, the city has also witnessed the rise of Imoco Prosecco Doc Conegliano in women’s volleyball—an undisputed powerhouse that has dominated the sport with a level of consistency reserved for only the greatest dynasties.
There is no doubt that the visibility and brand recognition generated by these achievements far exceed what a struggling football team could provide. After all, football in Italy is no longer a playground for local entrepreneurs but increasingly the domain of financial conglomerates and investment funds.
Yet Conegliano’s volleyball success tells an even more profound and unique story. In modern sport, especially in football, there is a growing trend of smaller, non-capital cities reaching the top divisions, creating a new category of teams—less than the traditional "provincial" clubs, as they lack a defined regional base, and often struggling with structural limitations, particularly in terms of fanbase size.
The Prosecco Doc Conegliano club is the exception to this rule.
Not only has it secured major sponsors from across the region, but it also enjoys a broad and passionate following that extends far beyond the city or even the province.
To those familiar with this reality, it may seem obvious, but it is anything but. Conegliano’s success is a rare case of sporting identity transcending local boundaries, evolving into a club of national and international significance—not just because of its titles, but because of the genuine connection it has built with its supporters.
This is a story worth telling—one that challenges conventional wisdom and redefines what it means for a city to thrive in sport.
